The temperature sensor with radiation shield connects directly to the Platypus Controller to provide accurate real-time ambient air readings. The shielded sensor continuously monitors outside air temperature, ensuring the controller activates only when true environmental temperatures unaffected by sunlight or surface heat, reach the user-set threshold.
When the measured temperature rises above the programmed activation point, the controller automatically starts the connected water pump or sprinkler system. The system runs and pauses according to user-defined cycle times. As ambient temperature readings from the sensor fall 35–40°F below the set point, the controller automatically deactivates the system.
This integration ensures precise, temperature-driven operation, preventing false activations and conserving water while maintaining optimal wildfire defense performance.
